WARNING!!! Don’t use Furnished Finder. I’ve been a travel nurse more than 15 years. Last November was the 1st time I heard of, and used Furnished Finder when I accepted an assignment in Atlanta Georgia. 1st off I was troubled by the fact that their questionnaire prompted me to answer how much my housing allowance is. (I find that the prices on Furnished Finders are jacked up because of that.) I have always been able to find reasonable housing on other platforms. As you all know, your housing allowance is part of your negotiated salary and not necessarily an additional Gift for being a traveler on Assignment. More disturbing to me is that Furnished Finder advertises big to the landlords, and guarantees them solid pay for the duration of 3 months. Further more, they state that to rent to travel nurses is a safe bet because we are pre-screen with a thorough criminal/background check.. But what Safeguards do they have in place for the safety of nurses? NONE!!! My experience was that the landlord also advertises on AirBnB and therefore could have any stranger/criminal In the same house 5 times a week. This landlord also did not advertise on Furnished Finders that a shared bathroom, doesn’t necessarily mean “shared” with a fellow nurse of the same sex. 2 weeks after I had moved in, he rented out and moved in a male who had booked on AirBnB, and expected me to share the bathroom with a strange man. I objected to that, to no Avail. Therefore, I moved out and requested a refund for the 2nd month I had already paid in advance. He did not refund me any money yet. It’s been more than a month since I filed a complain with Furnished Finders and they still haven’t acted on my complaint. They have not even answered my inquiry if they have even contacted this landlord. I believe that it is up to us, travel nurses to make sure that this housing industry, that seems to be booming on the backs of travel nurses, needs to have the same guardrails in place for the safety of nurses. Show your solidarity and let’s mount a boycott of Furnished Finder.
